Adventure beckons for Tom Frölich. In his newly appointed role as a project manager for Kooi International, he effortlessly navigates between customers in Poland, England, and Italy each day. "You have to be able to constantly level up not only socially but also in terms of language," he says.
Fresh from a visit to a true disaster area in Sweden, where a real landslide destroyed a highway between Stenungsund and Ljungskile, Tom reflects, "I was actually visiting colleagues in Odense for an introductory visit but ended up with them in a scene from a Hollywood disaster movie." Thus, in his initial weeks at Kooi, he seamlessly immerses himself in the thick of things.
Tom studied Intercedent before deciding to start his own cleaning company. Eventually, after ten years in the cleaning industry, he shifted gears to pursue a career in the world of mobile camera surveillance. Reflecting on this transition, he shares, "I had never had the chance to explore the world before." Now, as a project manager at Team International, he can capitalise on that opportunity. Joining a young, enthusiastic team is an added bonus for Tom. "It's a close group and a question is never too much."
Tom's day kicks off with reviewing reports and malfunctions from the previous night. "If something has happened on the site, I contact the customer," he explains. "There may also be false alarms due to a flag suddenly flying in front of the camera. I then take action on that immediately." Additionally, Tom lends support to the sales managers. "As soon as the cameras are placed on a project, it comes under my direction. I determine the right position for optimal detection and consult closely with the customer, who might be in Poland one minute but just as well be in Ireland 15 minutes later." Tom highlights the need to "level up well both socially and in terms of language at all times."
On average, Tom is away from home for about a week each month. Personal contact with customers is especially valued now. Describing a recent trip to Sweden as a nice kick-off, Tom says, "A unique event where we had to act quickly. Our partner Q-security had to secure the petrol station, the Burger King and crashed trucks. Our cameras helped the security guards, especially in the evening and night. And for a reason. Someone even tried to get into the disaster area with a parachute."
