An huge landslide near Stenungsund in Sweden destroyed a part of motorway E6 in the last weekend of September. It caused extensive damage. A dozen of cars drove over the edge of the road. Luckily nobody was seriously injured. Recovery of the E6 will take months. Kooi and Qsecurity have teamed up to secure the whole premises.
The devastated road between Stenungsund and Ljungskile looks like a scene of a Hollywood disaster movie. Trucks and cars are sunk into the ground and several restaurants have considerable damage and are closed until further notice. Still nothing is known about the cause of the landslide but Swedish police investigates whether blasting work on a nearby building may have affected the soil masses.
According to experts the presence of quick clay may have caused the mayhem. It’s clay that can move in the event of rain or vibrations. Quick clay is found in large parts of Western Sweden. Right now it is still dangerous to be in the Stenungsund area. The ground is unstable and there is a risk of new landslides. Public is advised to stay away from the area due to risk of more landslides. But curiosity still attracts people to the location. Youngsters entered the deserted Burger King to shoot TikTok-videos for instance. Qsecurity, partner of Kooi in Sweden, reacted very fast and secured the risky area with their security guards.
CEO Karl-Johan Elf asked Kees Glandorff of Kooi immediately to team up. He installed several UFO Medium on the premises. This mobile camera system is ideally suited for large and complex areas. Well, that certainly does apply here. “The cameras help guards on site, they do not replace them,” point Glandorff. “Safety is of the essence. We are responsible for ensuring that no one enters the area and make an assessment of how many guards are then required for this.”

Qsecurity and Kooi have worked together more often and are quite a team so slowly. Glandorff: “Last week we installed the systems and controlled the most remoted and instable areas along the motorway.” For the next weeks traffic is forced to take another route instead of the E6 where 10.000 vehicles usually pass the section every day. For Glandorff it’s just another team-effort that works perfect. “This project proves the effectiveness of manguards collaborating with mobile camera systems. It lowers the costs ánd the risk for the guards in the field and workers on the project.”

“Personally it's all about trust."
According to Kees Glandorff it's the personal approach where Kooi stands out. “In Denmark trust is called ‘tillid.’ Tillid grows when you show how our systems work. So first I scan the premises and see where our UFO’s (Units For Observation) can be positioned best. After that, I install them myself and show how everything works. And when something happens, like an intruder sneaks in, we take care of the tracking. We aim to be present within half an hour. So we are really part of the project from beginning to end.”
